EBooks are a booming industry right now — everyone’s got information to impart, and everyone else seems to want to read it. Done right, you can make a bundle of money on it, and help people out while you’re doing it.

Of course, you don’t want your EBook to look, well, bad. Good design is, in these cases, invisible — you only notice the design on an EBook if it’s sloppy, unprofessional and (worst yet) hard to read. Well, except the cover, which you will splash all over everywhere to try to sell the thing.

Which brings us to the other package I’m offering, which is honestly not so much a package as just a thing. But that thing is your EBook, looking slick and professional, so that every word of your wisdom looks just as credible as it sounds. Reads. You get the idea.

How Much? $499 and up, depending on length & complexity of your book.

What’s included?

  • Cover design consistent with your branding
  • Cover and interior shots for your web designer, in whatever size and format they request
  • Password-locked pdf end product (and a copy for you without the copy protection)
  • Functional Table of Contents
  • Clickable links throughout
  • Inclusion of a reasonable number of images
  • Attractively formatted text in a readable, consistent style
  • Up to 4 tables or charts, unless provided by you as images in a ready-to-use format (such as .tif, .gif or .jpg — Word doesn’t count)
  • Up to 3 web buttons for advertising in whatever size you desire

What’s not included?

  • Lots and lots of images, especially those that need attribution — it’s a fine line we’ll discuss before contracts are signed, never fear
  • Custom illustrations or a fancy-pants painted cover
  • Print-ready proofs
  • Proof reading, copy editing, or copy writing
  • A whole lot of fancy-pants interior formatting, such as a day planner, almanac, or book of statistics — if this is your project, I’d love to work with you, but it’ll have to be a special quote
  • Shopping cart setup, launch page design, or setting up an email list

What if you want some of that stuff? Here’s some Upgrades:

  • Fancy-pants painted cover (digital or natural media), add $499
  • The original of your fancy-pants natural media cover to hang on your wall, add $549 to the cost of the cover (for a total of $1048, with free shipping)
  • Interior illustrations in pen & ink or Adobe Illustrator – quoted individually
  • Pre-flighted and print-ready files for one printer of your choice, add $249
  • Launch page with a sale button using an existing shopping cart system and your current website template, add $249
  • Launch page with a whole new design just for this product, Paypal shopping cart button, domain registration and hosting setup, add $499 (plus registration & hosting fees, copy not included)

What sort of terms are we talking, here?

  • All work will be protected by a signed contract, including dates that you have to get your content to me, and when I have to get my stuff to you.
  • Payment will be in two installments, with 50% up front. Final files will be provided after final payment is complete.
  • I get to put a "design by" blurb at the end of the eBook.
  • You get to ask for lunch meetings, spend long hours in coffee shops discussing your life’s work, and work out your eBook ideas with me so I can create your just-right end product. That is, if you want to.
  • If you’re late with the content, that voids any agreement I’ve made about deadlines on my end, so don’t do that. Alternatively, I’m not allowed to be late on my end and blow your deadlines, or you get a 10% discount. Unless I get hit by a bus, in which case you can go hit up the bus driver.
  • If I’m not the one who created your logo, that counts as part of the content you need to provide.
  • Additional hours will be billed at a rate of $80 per hour, payable at the next billing increment in your contract. These are incurred by things like changing your cover design nine times, swapping out all of your eBook copy at the last minute, or asking for changes after a design approval has been signed and work has begun on the next phase of production. So don’t do that.

Sound good to you?

As you might expect, I only have time in my schedule for so many of these packages at a time, so please drop me a line and we’ll talk turkey. Or tofu, if that’s what you prefer — either way, I’ll do what I can to fit you in on a timeline we can both agree on.
